BARRISTER (MRS) NGOZI IHUAKU NJOKU
An educationist, lawyer, activist and philanthropist of great repute, Barr. Mrs. Ngozi Njoku was born into a royal family of HRH late Eze Johnson Ihegboro Nzekwe – Ishigbo of Owerri Nkworji in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. She is happily married to Chief Felix Okechukwu pf Umudiagba, Abajah in Nwangele Local Government Area of Imo State and blessed with 5 children (four boys and one girl).
In charting the course of her career, Barr. (Mrs) Ngozi Ihuaku Njoku obtained NCE certificate in History/Sociology from Alvan Ikoku College of Education Owerri, Imo State.
She also bagged a Law Degree LLB (Hons) from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and a Barrister at Law BL from the Nigerian Law School. She practiced as a counsel in Sam Ogunbamila & Co. Chambers Lagos State and later established Ngozi Njoku & Co Legal Practitioners where she was the Principal Partner before joining active politics.
Barr Mrs Ngozi Njoku served as a Town Union President of Abajah Town Union (A.T.U.) Women Wing Lagos for a period of 8 years. During her tenure, Abajah women experienced a total transformation that equipped them in playing their role as good mothers and good wives who contributed enormously to the development of Abajah community.
She empowered many women financially and acted as guidance counselor to children some of whom are notable sons and daughters of her town, Abajah.
She was appointed as a Member of Nwangele-South Development Centre in 2006. During the period, she attracted Government presence through the construction of 12 lock-up shops in Orie Abajah market. She instituted a micro-credit interest free loan for indigent Abajah women from all kindred of Abajah.
Having proved her mettle in her first political appointment and the unprecedented grace of God in her life, Barr. Mrs. Ngozi Njoku was appointed as Hon. Commissioner in charge of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imo State from 2007 – 2009. She gave scholarships and took care of orphans and vulnerable children. Through her free medical programmes, many Abajah sons and daughters received treatments from life threatening ailments.
A respected and lover of elders, Barr. Mrs. Ngozi Njoku became the first to decorate the members of Eze’s cabinet with the befitting uniforms that portrayed a positive public image of the cabinet in and outside Abajah.
She served as a member of Board of Charities in London Borough of Waltham Forest U. K

Among her numerous awards and titles is a favorite one by the physically challenged persons in Imo State i.e. “OMA NKPA UMUOGBENYE.” in 2008. No wonder the eagle eyes of His Excellency, Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha (OON) spotted her to be appointed as the DIRECTOR GENERAL OF IMO FOUNDATION – a charitable organ of Imo State Government of which her performance earned her an automatic re-appointment by the Governor of Imo State who elevated her to the position of the Commissioner for Imo State Ministry of Health, Women Affairs and Social Development, a position which she occupies up till date.
