Governor Okorocha reshuffles cabinet, reassigns four commissioners

The governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha on Monday, July 18, 2016 carried out minor cabinet reshuffle that occasioned some Commissioners being moved to other ministries.

For instance, the Commissioner for Information, Strategy, Youths and Sports, Engineer Chidi Ibeh was moved to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, while Hon. Ifeanyi Ararume Junior who was in that ministry was moved to the Ministry of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and Internal Resources.

The Commissioner for IGR Chief Vitalis Ajumbe was moved to the Ministry of Information, and Public Utility, while Hon. Rodney Ajaelu now takes charge in the ministry of youths, sports and public safety.

And the minor reshuffle was not for any other reason but for strategic reasons and optimum productivity on the parts of the individual commissioners. They had all done well in their former ministries and the Governor in his wisdom believed that they could do better in their current portfolios.

The truth is that none of them was shifted for non-performance as being rumoured in some quarters. They have all been outstanding in the discharge of their responsibilities and the governor had had the feeling that they could do more in their new ministries.

The governor therefore wishes the concerned Commissioners success in their new ministries.

It will be recalled that prior to this minor cabinet reshuffle, Ministry of Commerce and Industry was referred to as Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism while Ministry of Information, Tourism and Public Utilities was referred to as Ministry of Information, Youth and Sports.

Ministry of Youth and Sports is now restored with responsibility for Public Safety with the full acronym, Ministry of Youth, Sports and Public Safety.

The reassignment takes immediate effect.
